In a previous thread, I mentioned I had never heard of Camp David having a formal Skeet or Trap field... look at this aerial photo, lower left...

However, looking at the manicured lawn, not much of a shotfall zone...

    regards,

It sure doesn't look like a lot of shooting takes place there!

If the picture is viewed with the proper orientation, the U.S. flag is upside down.

That would make sense that Eisenhower put the field in as he had one on his farm in Gettysburg. Bulge.

Does anyone know the scale of the picture. If we knew the dimensions of any item in the picture, we may be able to compute the shotfall area. It looks pretty close to me.

You can see the shot fall area. It's the worn parts of the lawn area where there are no more striping lines from cutting.

WOW! I didn't know they had such a nice range over there. I live just a couple of miles over the hill and know some folks who work there, but never heard mention of it. I've shot the Invitational shoot at Ike's farm before the Park Service got worried about lead on the battlefield, and shut it down, excepting the "special" folks who were connected or pay big bucks for the privelage. In any case, the range at Camp David looks new, and I'll check to see when it was built. Sure would be cool to get an invitation to shoot it.

    best....mike

    BB,

Let us know how that invitation to shoot with the liar - in - chief works out.

They'll probably confiscate your gun when you arrive.

Look at Google and measure the distance from Sta 4 to the corner of the building, less than 550 feet. HarryC

How exactly did you do that? That's pretty close if you are correct.

ntgr8, your comment about some stations shooting at the buildings indicates that you have not shot skeet. Many more shots on the skeet field would send shot toward the buildings, other than the ones you mention.

    Gents,

The distance from Station 4 to just beyond station 8 (from the front of the box to the Stake)is 25 yards. So it's roughly 180-190 yards from station 4 to the nearest building (If you're shooting on station 4). With #7 1/2, 8 or 9 shot, the fall zone is either on the roof or into the woods beyond the buildings. Unless of course they shoot steel target loads, then, I'm guessing but it probably falls short of the buildings.

    Just my guess.

Measure the distance between the high & low house in the pic, and you could figure the scale.
