California Bill Would Prohibit Lead Shot

    2/25/10

A new bill in California would greatly restrict the use of traditional lead shot ammunition by hunters and recreational shooters in the state.

Assembly Bill 2223, introduced by Assemblyman Pedro Nava (D- Santa Barbara), would ban the use of traditional shot within California’s Wildlife Management Areas which encompasses over one half million acres of state hunting and recreational shooting land.

The bill would require that only ammunition approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for waterfowl and coot hunting be used on state land.

“It is disturbing that lead ammunition is being targeted again since state wildlife areas are largely funded by the taxes levied on such ammunition,” said Evan Heusinkveld, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA) director of state services. “Additionally, there is no demonstrated need to pass this legislation as the California Fish and Game Commission already has the authority to place restrictions on ammunition on a case by case basis. Those decisions are based on science and should be left up to the state’s wildlife management professionals.”

A leading California sportsmen organization echoed those sentiments.

“AB 2223 circumvents the science-based regulatory process of the California Fish and Game Commission,” said Mark Hennelly, vice president of the California Outdoor Heritage Alliance. “It wrongly allows politics to influence hunting regulations and the management of our wildlife resources.”

Take Action! California sportsmen should contact their state assembly members and urge them to oppose AB 2223. Tell them that science, not politics or public opinion, should be the basic for wildlife management practices.

To find your state assembly member’s phone number and other contact information, use the USSA Legislative Action Center at www.ussportsmen.org/lac.

    Here's the real deal guys.

Pedro Nava is running for CA Attorney General, and wants to look good to all of his LIBERAL buddies. this bill is a walk in the park compared to what he will push if he is elected AG

The guy is a pain in the ass and a Showboater for sure. He is always right in the mix when there is controversy that can be blown into outrage. He'll more than likely have some rediculous "study" siting that lead shot is responsible for the deaths of millions of Mexican kids working in the vineyards of Northern SB county, or that the Condors are dying as a result of ingesting the shot left by sportsmen, which will energize his base of liberal idiots which will believe anything they are told.

Problem is,,, he has enough political clout to pull it off.

We must contact our legislators and get this one shot down.

    Burn in hell asshole!

This is precisely what is wrong in America - individuals who will say and/or do anything to be placed in a position of power. These are the truly dangerous people whoa are without principle. California is loaded with them. Now the citizens of California will be bailed out by the tax dollars of the citizens of other states who would not put up with this crap from their own elected official. I say, screw them! Let THEM pay the price for electing these creeps all these years! I'll bet Nancy Pelosi gets re-elected!

I have been trying to get the RNC to spend some of your hard earned money getting some people elected to state positions, and displace people like Pelosi, Boxer, Jane Harman, Maxine Waters, Henry Waxman, but their answer is,,, "CA is a lost cause".

Well if CA is a lost cause,,, Then the rest of the nation is fucked! It all starts here. Every bit of liberal legislation comes from here.

    It don't come from Wyoming!

Pay attention,,,we need help, big time. To not help us, simply means you're next!

Well I think the time is comming that working from the bottom up is not going to work. Problem is going to be tackled straight on from the top and go down.
When or if these people ever relinquish their power for any reason their will be investigations and very long prison sentences for all. They know that and are not about to leave any american citizen have government back.

Thomas Jeffersson said. A government feared by the people is tyranny. A government that fears the people is freedom. I'm ready for some freedom.
