    Is this for real?

    Subject: California Assembly Bill 962
    Date: Sept. 22, 2009

We are writing to inform you of pending legislation that will restrict purchases of handgun ammunition in California and will terminate our ability to service your needs for certain products.

On Friday, Sept. 11, the California Assembly passed Assembly Bill 962, by a 44-31 vote.

Among other regulations, AB 962 would:

    • Ban all mail-order and Internet sales of handgun ammunition.
    • Prohibit the retail sale, the offer for sale or the display of handgun ammunition in a
manner that allows ammunition to be accessible to a purchaser without assistance of a
    vendor or employee.
    • Require that the delivery or transfer of ownership of handgun ammunition occur in a
face-to-face transaction, with the deliverer or transferor being provided bona fide
evidence of identity of the purchaser or other transferee.

That evidence of identity, which must be legibly recorded at the time of delivery, includes:

    • The right thumbprint of the purchaser or transferee.
    • The date of the sale or other transaction.
    • The purchaser's or transferee's driver's license or other identification number and the
state in which it was issued.
    • The brand, type and amount of ammunition sold or otherwise transferred.
    • The purchaser's or transferee's signature.
    • The name of the salesperson who processed the sale or other transaction.
    • The purchaser's or transferee's full residential address and telephone number.
    • The purchaser's or transferee's date of birth.

The bill is on the desk of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, where it awaits his consideration. He will have until Oct. 11 to sign or veto the bill. If he does not veto the bill, it will become law.

If you wish to comment on AB 962, you may contact Gov. Schwarzenegger by phone at (916) 445-2841, or via fax at (916) 558-3160. To e-mail Gov. Schwarzenegger, visit

We encourage all Cabela's customers who participate in the shooting sports to contact Gov. Schwarzenegger to voice their opposition to this initiative, which will limit your opportunities to shop with Cabela's, and will restrict the sale of handgun ammunition everywhere in California.

Everyone should be concerned about what goes on in California, and anywhere else gun rights are being threatened. Maybe some of you have seen these words before, but they still ring true today:
"First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a communist; Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist; Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist; Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew; Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak out for me." Martin Niemöller 1892–1984
Whether or not you live in California, or if you are not concerned because you reload or don't shoot handguns, this is a threat that can eventually consume us all. Write or speak out today. Eric Z

Fact is those left coasters love their state, they love their lifestyle, and they will stay no matter what. Their just pissed because the rest of us have not been bought off yet. Not to fear it's coming. I'm not holding my breath on them raising a finger to help even though the bulk of our troubles spawned in CA,

Thanks for dumping your problems on the rest of us.

Actions have CONSEQUENCES,,,,remember this when you VOTE next time!!!!

I live in California and don't shoot handguns or rifles, but this bill is still an attempt to take away my rights. Does anyone really think that ammunition can't be bought from Mexico? This bill is stupid and I hope the Governator vetoes it big time.

The link http://gov.ca.gov/interact will take you to a place where you can email the Governator. Do it! I don't care if you live in California or not! It's a violation of your rights as we know them today and just another attempt by the liberals to control guns. If this passed, just wait! Remember, most of the trends for the rest of the states start in California...

Many times as California has gone with it's laws so does the Feds. I understand it's just hand gun ammo. Well I shoot had gun amo as well as Trap and Skeet and Sporting Clays. It's basicly similar in many ways. Ya start with on law and just move on down. Ric.(innameonly)

Although some of the bills provisions were deleted by the Senate, the definitions below are for real:

    (c) For purposes of this section, "ammunition" shall include, but
not be limited to, any bullet, cartridge, magazine, clip, speed
loader, autoloader, or projectile capable of being fired from a
firearm with deadly consequence. "Ammunition" does not include blanks
    used in prop weapons

12323. As used in this chapter, the following definitions shall
    (a) "Handgun ammunition" means ammunition principally for use in
pistols, revolvers, and other firearms capable of being concealed
upon the person, as defined in subdivision (a) of Section 12001,
notwithstanding that the ammunition may also be used in some rifles.

No more internet purchases of handgun ammo, accessories, components, etc. In state purchases will increase due lack of competition.

If it isn't vetoed, we'll have a little over a year to stock up.
Since the handgun ammunition isn't specifically defined, it could cover all crossover ammo....22's, etc.

Sad but all a gang member has to do is send his girlfriend to buy his ammo. Dumb, dumb, dumb......

If you say to vote these people out....how do you do it with a majority of liberals in this state ?

Have you ever been to California, 221? You seem to be awful bitter. In what state do you reside, might I ask?

The truth is, there are many, many good people here. We have jobs, homes and kids just like everybody else. Some of us choose to dig in and fight. The liberals are after us at every turn. Don't look now, but the libbies are everywhere...even in your state, I'll wager. The good people of Minnesota have Al Franken for a senator, for crissakes!

We had all better hang together in this fight. It looks like a nationwide disease(liberalism), so it's a target rich environment for all of us...even you, 221.

I guess all of those Californians who own plinking rifles will be affected too. It seems that all .22 ammo would be restricted, also. This is proof that this doesn't only affect pistol owners.

I lived in Calif for many years and upon retiring moved to Idaho. However as several of the comments have indicated what happens in Calif has a trend to influence the rest of the states. We need to pay very close attention and do everything in our power to stop whats going on there before it reaches our respective states. Trust me , it will reach us unless we are pro active and curtail it now!! Why in the hell would anyone allow their rights to be further removed without a fight?? People im telling you if you dont take a serious stand now you wont be able to latter.

It makes me laugh that this bankrupt, cash strapped state Ca. is considering making the possesion of weed (pot) legal so they can tax the heck out of it, but they want stop the sale of ammo to you folks out there. I won't throw stones in a glass house though because where I'm at, New Jersey, ( the armpit of North America) they are passing bills left and right that are restricting folks like myself who have never been convicted of a crime, mental, drug user, drunk etc.... from some very basic gun rights. A few weeks back, they passed a bill that restricts us to the purchase of only " ONE " handgun a month. Just an example. I can't wait until my 3 little guys graduate high school so I can pack up mom, my guns and the beagle and move to West Virginia, where it may be true that most life long residents of W.V. can be traced back to one brother and sister, they all also carry a sidearm. While they are some of the most freindly people on the east coast, they will shoot you a smile and "How do ya" just as fast as they will shoot you for taking something that is not yours. Retirement and an old pickem up truck with a beagle riding next to me, John Denver on the radio as we head down an old dirt road, can not come fast enough!!!
