You may remember this guy, always on here buying everything in sight. Seems he had something going on the side.

I drove all night from eastern PA to see Pete one Saturday morning. Sight unseen he offered and paid me $3000 more than the Cabela's (Hamburg) that's 20 miles from my house offered for about 14 guns. I was paid very well for my guns. since then I've had three phone interviews with BATF and I'm sworn to secrecy. I've been wondering when the s*** would hit the fan.

Cabela's is still trying to sell the $400 guns he bought for $1200......They're marked down to $800.

The one guys name was Authur T. Nowak and the guy that posts on here is Tom A. Nowak? both also reside in Fla.

P.S. The one guy they arrested "Nowak" was from Odessa Florida, that is the Silver Dollar club address.

    Wow, you just never know.

I bought an MX-2000 from Pete off of TS.com 5 or 6 years ago. Couldn't have been a better transaction.

Cabelas is as much to blame for this than anyone else. I'm sure poor suditing played a large part.

Sucks because other buyers that works for large corps are going to be scrutinized now.

I just called and spoke to Tom Nowak...

It is indeed our buddy that is involved in this indictment.

Yeah, and we know Ernest Lehman, 70, of South Bend. Can't believe he'd be involved in something like this either. Did these guys get caught up in something and not realize the full scope? I really hope so. What A Bummer.

Fathawk: What world do you live in??? First you say it is Cabelas fault for not auditing their buyer. Then you complain that now buyers will be scrutinized. What do you want??

I agree with BIGDON, Cabela's auditing is what most likely caught this scam. It would be hard to suggest that the victim (Cabela's) is somehow to blame in this, based upon the link to the article that was published. It also sounds as if this scam had been run at other retail outlets in the past. I suppose that it's possible that some of the others named may have been entrained in this unwittingly. Due legal process will sort that out. It's not prudent to judge all until their side of the story is told. I should hope the government (ATF) would not indict without evidence.

Sounds to me like he is in for some serious trouble. I would imagine the ATF would not throw out an indictment without a good reason.

Let's wait for the full story to be told.

I have shot with Tom, bought a K-80 from him, and broken bread with him many times. He is a fine man. He served his country and paid a hell of a price. I doubt I could have handled losing both legs the way he has.

I have never heard of anyone getting burned by Tom.

Sometimes bad things happen to good people. Let's hope that is the case here.
