My BT100 is starting to fail-to-fire once out of 50 shells on both reloads and factory ammunition. I just ordered a new firing pin and spring kit from J&P so now I need to know how to change it out. It appears to me that the firing pin is held in by a very small 'roll pin'. I assume all I have to do is drive out that pin to change it? Any tricks to changing the springs so I don't have them flying all over my garage?
Yes remove the roll pin and remove the firing pin and spring. clean the hole well and reinstall.. If you are at that point all the hard work is already done.
Look carefully at the ends of the pin b4 you drive it out. At one end ( I think the left end ) the hole has a slight taper. Drive the pin towards that end and install from that end.
On my gun one side of the pin is flush with the casting and the other is about 1/16 from being flush. I assume I need to drive it from the 'indented' side to the flush side.
Yes, I forgot to mention that. You don't need to drive it all the way out, just enough to clear the firing pin.
