If one were to take a competition fore end, remove the iron & put it on a beavertail fore end would the beavertail then fit the same gun?

Point being Goose, that I have a chance to purchase a BT-99 back up gun with a competition fore end & I have an extra beavertail fore end (just the wood) which I would like to use to replace the competition one. If I had both on hand I would have already tried it.

On a BT99 the wood is sandwiched between the forearm iron pieces. The wood thickness is critical. They won't be the same. I don't think they are even close to the same. Also the new and old models are different.

It won't work, for sure. I had to get new hardware. I have a competition forend with latch that I would part with if interested. For the old style.
