My BT_100 has developed a problem of sometimes breaking open upon shot discharge. Any experience out there with problem, and fix?

If you are going to the Grand, take your BT-100 to the Browning factory area. They will clean it and replace the springs for $30 or $35. I had mine done last year, and it was like a new gun. It only took them an hour to boot!

Whatever you do don't send it back to Browning. Could take anywhere from 7 to 18 months to get your gun back!!!!

top lever spring, not to hard to do. make sure you have a screw bit that really fits in true and square, no tapered screw bits!!!

PS I got my spring tune up kit from above, wolf springs are good also. OEM are also a choice.

    Hey,

The spring is not what holds the gun closed during firing.

The locking block and friction is what does it. When the locking block wears or the barrel lug wears the barrel will not stay closed.

Gunsmith will fix the locking block for a permanent fix. I doubt the spring will provide a permanent fix.

    Take care,

    Jim

Top spring is the short fix. Temporary and will not solve the problem. When a Browning pops open, its time for a bebuild. Not a new locking block either since the blok is harder than the barrel. Barrels get welded and groove gets recut to factory specs. Other parts proportionally as worn on the inside. Do not ignore this pop-open warning and call it fixed with a 10 dollar spring. If you do you will be paying for a rebuild plus replacing a broken top lever tab. Todd
