Browning made the Superposed shotgun for over fifty years; variants include the Broadway, Lightning, Trap, Skeet, etc. I am aware that there are 'long-tang' and 'short-tang' differences. Aside from the tangs, does anyone know if the stocks and forearms are or are not otherwise interchangable? Many thanks.

The tang in long tang and short tang is the lower tang/trigger guard. The top tang is part of the receiver. There are major receiver/top tang differences. The earlier ones - 1930's to 1966 have a Y shaped tang and the later ones have U shaped tang. 1966 to 1968 are the transition years and both tang shapes may be found.

Lots of variations in forend shapes and how they are attached. Screw from the front, screw from the side and screw internal to the forend are the basics - some variation of these.

When Browning had trouble finding enough wood around 1970 they tried to cure wood by immersing the wood in salt brine. It quickly cured the wood but the wood retained the salt which would eat up the metal - big problem for Browning with their Lifetime Warranty that was in effect at that tiem. If you are looking at factory wood be sure and check the serial number to see if it is in the 'salt wood' era.
