Anybody ever heard of a Browning Special GTS?

There's a guy at a club over here with one. I've never seen one before. Nice looking gun though.

GTS stands for "Game and Target Shotgun". They were an attempt by Browning to combine a game/field gun with a sporting/target gun. They are OK of that’s what you’re looking for but if you’re planning on just shooting trap or other target games I would look at other models. Google it and you will find lots of info.

Got one a couple of months ago and love it! Probably the most universal O/U I've ever shot, as it is nicely balanced, swings very well with 30" barrels, is NOT ported, has a semi-wide low rib, very nice Grade 1 (oil finish) wood with excellent dimensions, and has a POI that is perfect for my shooting style. No, it is not "perfect" for Trap for me, although I have used it for Singles and Doubles with great results. It really shines as a Sporting Clays / 5-stand / Skeet gun, which is why I bought it. I would much rather have a gun that does it all as well as this one, than one dedicated to Trap.

The wide and very flat rib are disadvantages

    the receiver decoration looks odd

Its a citori which isnt all bad

so you have to figure out what you want or what you want to pay for a citori with a wide and flat rib that looks odd

    regards from Iowa

Oh- not sure if it has invector or invector plus barrels

The GTS has Invector+ barrels, and the width of the rib is 10mm, so it isn't WIDE at all. As for the rib height, it is typical of the Sporting series. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as I think the receiver engraving is very nice! Game birds rising and morphing into clays. What's not to like?

It's hard to keep track. So many permutations of the same platforms in the name of marketing. Smart for the manufacturers but confusing for the consumer. Everybody's doing it though.

That would be the Golden Clays engraving without the gold!
