I have heard mention that there is a special technique to de-cocking or dry-firing the Browning Recoilless...can anyone explain to me what that is? I would sure appreciate any info.

The Browning owner's manual makes no mention of how to de-cock or dry-fire the gun, but it does suggest storing the gun de-cocked.

    Thanks

I seem to remember this: Without a shell in the chamber you grasp the barrel with your off hand then press the trigger and ease the barrel forward.

It will not snap without a snap-cap in the chamber. With the chamber empty pulling the drigger does nothing.

YAY!! Hope you enjoy the gun! I emailed Browning, just in case my instructions didn't work. I'll email you the "official" instructions if I hear back from them ;)

I used to just stick a snap cap in and fire the gun like any other. Worked on both that I owned.

    I used Yvonne's method to de-cock mine.

    No problems. Great gun.

I have a copy of the manual if anyone needs it. Mine wasn't so great.

Press the muzzle down against the carpet hard, pull the trigger, and gradually ease up on the stock to let the barrel forward into the uncocked position.
