I'm curious,..does anyone know of a detailed step by step..(with pictures even better) disassembling, servicing and rebuilding and reassembly of the stock factory Browning recoil unit used on all of the Citori and BT99 Plus series of trapguns??....I like having a reference in front of me before taking anything apart where springs are involved

I replaced mine early on with a Timney that actually worked and does to this day. I paind about $100 15-20 years ago and I understand Timney himself is dead and the company sold. I'd do some searches ogf magazines that advertise replacement parts etc.

There was quite an extensive thread on this forum regarding the refurbishing of the original recoil device on this forum approximately two years ago. Don't know how far back the archives go but worth finding if the effort pays off. If you do find it please share it with the rest of the group again.

Calvin, when I put the Timney on I kept the old Browning. A friend was a gunsmith and said he could rebuild the Browning to work. I gave him one of my Remington Wingmaster trap guns to cut and install the rework on. I bought a new plate etc. from Brownells at the time. Well, it didn't work much better than before. The cost was right though-zip.

After Allen passed I believe Wrights were the sellers of the remaining recoil reducer inventory. I checked their website and there is no mention of the Timney unit available. If I recall correctly they ran out of the outer portions of the device and stopped selling the units. It may be possible for them to replace the innner workings in your original Browning unit. The e-mail address for them is shown on the website.
