A man believed to be a British soldier was beheaded and hacked up with a meat cleaver by two men, who were then shot by police in London Wednesday afternoon, authorities say.

The victim was cut up "like a piece of meat," said one eyewitness to the slaughter, which occurred in broad daylight near an Army barracks.

The shocking slaughter — in the Woolwich area of southeast London — was being treated as a possible terrorist attack.

    See video below.

The Times of London reported that one of the attackers screamed "Allahu Akhbar," Arabic for "God is Great," as he and an accomplice hacked away at the defenseless victim.

"These two guys were crazed," the eyewitness told LBC News.

No matter. The important thing was that there wasn't a single citizen on that busy street who was carrying a handgun, and who might have intervened, which might have saved the soldier's life.

Chalk up another good person's death to "gun control."

Isn't there a law in the UK where it is "illegal" to defend one's self??

There were marches in London last year some time over the Citizens wanting their gun rights back.

    Ya just gotta love liberals!!!!

Do we want to duplicate UK's mistakes?

Even the tiniest of insects defend themselves...just stand on an ant hill and see what happens.

This is just horrifying, plus the words "you'll never be safe". Just watched this on Beck's website.

While some may suffer from islamophobia, (in this case, rightfully so), what do islamists suffer from? All-other-religions-ophobia? Which is right and which is an illusion?

And just who is fanning the flames of islamophobia but the islamists themselves?

One must never feel pity for the devil and one must recognize evil for what it is. Deception is the devil's game.

How long before we see an incident like this in Detroit or some other US city with a rag concentration.

There are probably celebrations going on at the white house and state department today.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck.

Forgot to mention Totalitarianophobia, which I reckon is what most Americans are suffering from; as opposed to Allotherreligionophobia which is what the islamists, I reckon suffer from.

When the police arrived, they shot the 2 suspects, who were still armed.....unfortunately they only wounded them....using up all their available ammo...starting at their toes and working there way up would have been preferable...

A very sad event, all around. One that no one will learn from, unfortunately. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families.

Hard to believe, all right. These African Islamics are allowed into England and immediately think they should impose their foreign standards on their hosts, complete with bloody beheadings. But, the Boston bombers, who were "white," displayed much the same "bite the hand that feeds you" sentiment. There does seem to be something about Islam, at least in our time, that encourages this barbaric behavior. At least in England, though, a local Islamic leader did immediately condemn the terrorism--we'll see if Islamic leaders in the main Islamic countries follow suite. I recall that after the 9-11 terrorist attacks, there seemed to be a deafening silence from the world's main Islamic religious leaders.

There are many "constraints" against self-defense in Britain. One person being butchered is acceptable collateral damage to the anti-self defense elite (of course, the elite has armed body guards).....

Is Bloomberg flying over to promote butcher knife/meat cleaver control?

Is the press talking about "cleaver violence"....should the perps be referenced in the press as "cleavermen".......didn't think so....

Too bad the victim was not granted THE RIGHT TO SELF DEFENSE and a CCW!

I wonder if it had been Piers Morgan instead of the soldier what CNN would say.....

    Just another "workplace violence" incident.
English citizens don't have any interest in self-defense. They appear to abhor the very idea. Just one more reason why They are English, with NO Second Amendment...and We're Americans.

why don't some of you making these comments start using your brain instead of your mouth and fingers. A man was killed in a horrible way. Would you comments like that if he was your son , father or friend. Read what some wrote, sure I'm not
alone in thinking something is terrible wrong in them by their comments. Ken Uhlbeck

    Don Steele: You said,

"English citizens don't have any interest in self-defense." I think you are wrong. I think that that the English have decided that the dramatically reduced level of gun violence in England is the tradeoff for the those times when civilians and some police would have been better served if they were armed. It's their county.

"They are English, with NO Second Amendment...and We're Americans."

Yes we have the Second Amendment, but it is important to remember that it is not just the English that don't have this right. As far as I know, the US is unique is this regard. I don't think there is any other developed country that has the equivalent of the 2nd as part of it's basic governing laws.
