News reports say 44 companies are refusing to do business with police agencies in three states...California, Colorado and New York. But many of these companies sell to distributors like Amchar in Rochester NY and Jerry's in Pennsylvania. If the distributors in these and other states buy from manufacturers and then sell to the agencies involved, the boycott is meaningless. I do not know for sure if this scenario will take place . Does anyone on here know? ed nichols

Do you have a link, or are we just supposed to believe you?

If this is true, it then becomes important to know who the 44 companies are. I suspect you will not see the names of companies that supply common law enforcement weapons like Glock. This story is just propaganda if we are talking about companies that do not enjoy the business of law enforcement agencies already.

548...I am getting my information from FOX news, which I put the most faith in to tell the truth and give both sides. My opinion...which I beleive in this country is still legal. I do not know the 44 companies as they did not list. I am familiar however with some distributors and know they have law enforcement sales divisions, thus my question. Just looking for someone on here who may know some facts. One thing I do know..from seeing other posts on here by you...I think you lean toward the mentally challenged liberal point of view...am I correct? ed nichols

Yes, I am a liberal, but that has nothing to do with the topic at hand. In your own words you described how worthless Fox News is. What kind of news outlet describes such a story, even getting so specific as to cite 44 companies, but doesn't back it up with even naming one of the 44?

Thanks Skeet, I just read the list and those are mostly all retail outlets. I was thinking this was coming from manufacturers.

I see Red Jacket is on the list. LOL. That's the Sons of Guns crew.

Gotta make this quick 548 as I am getting ready for work. In no way shape or manner did I indicate anything against FOX news. I trust them above all others. You however indicate the usual liberal trick of twisting or spinning ones words to suit your agenda. Like most news outlets...they have only so much time and a good copy editor would think to list the companies would be boring for most viewers, but I am sure should you e mail them they would supply the list. Hope you are having a good day but something tells me you're not. ed nichols

Nope Ed, the part about Fox News was my opinion. I was just using your information to
prove my point. Thanks for starting the thread. I do find this interesting.

548 is simply trying to hijack this thread into a diatribe against Fox News.

The list of companies in the boycott is growing. This may eventually put pressure on the big dogs to join in, if they see preferential buying going to the companies participating in the boycott.

The fly in the ointment indeed is distributors, but the manufacturers can easily make it a condition of sale. After all, they've done that for public pricing.

The biggest problem is with the feds, and it does not take any stretch of the imagination to see the feds setting up an entity to buy guns, ammo, optics and accessories then resell them to state and local agencies. Of course, the manufacturers have said they will not warranty these items. but it would not surprise me to see a cheese weasel like Schumer put a clause into a bill outlawing that.

Even if it doesn't cut off their supplies, as long as folks help pointing out those false entities,, and those STRAW BUYERS/Distributors finding end arounds for the blacklisters and we just keep adding them to the list...Then,if nothing else making it a huge huge PITA for the grabbers is worth the effort...being a neverending burr under their saddles is as close to turning the tables as we maty come....WELL worth it in my book!!

I'm sure that there are people here who remember the "agreement" between the Clinton administration and Smith and Wesson back in 2000. The resulting boycott of S&W products by shooters and gun rights advocates resulted in a 40% decline in sales and was a factor in the sale of the company by British owners Tompkins PLC.

Anybody who believes that boycotts are ineffective needs to revisit this bit of history.
