Does anyone here shoot Live bird matches anymore? I know most states have outlawed the shoots, but is it legal anywhere ? I really miss shooting those pigeons.... ipscmaster

It's legal in the state of California, but the ranges are "heavily" guarded, and it's politically incorrect to publish it on open forums.

It goes on in my part of the country but it isn't something the average guy can do. You need to be well heeled and have an invitation. Apparently a lot of money changes hands......

Legal in NY, but putting $ on it isn't (the gov't always wants their cut of the action), and the guys that are serious about it aren't going to shoot for bragging rights alone.

Don't know if it's still legal but back in the 50s and 60s we always shot barn and bridge pigeons before pheasant season, in fact the farmers were glad to get rid of them as they made a big mess of the hay that was to be cattle feed. Ross Puls

Unless the law has changed in the last couple years, Vernon National near Turning Stone Casino had a box birds ring, and used to have pictures on their website that I can't seem to find anymore.

It's pretty well advertised in many places. I don't know why the poster did not respond to the question about where he lives.

Sport of Kings! Guadalajara, Mexico City, Madrid, even a great club in Monte Carlo. If one can afford it there are some great places to shoot flyers.

There are still a few shooting locations around the USA. Invitation only and it's not cheap here either. One can win some serious money however be prepared to shoot against the best in the world.

I spent five minutes on google.com and found some clubs that shoot box birds in a state that adjoins mine. My pigeon club does not advertise, but anyone is welcome as a guest of a member. Yes, guests can shoot on their first visit, no waiting. As far as I am aware, only two flyer facilities exist in my state, and don't think they advertise. Many clubs that have flyer shoots do not advertise that fact on their websites. One of these days, I will call the club that hosts my pigeon club and see how they answer that inquiry.

If you have to post here looking for a shoot, you will never attend one. Those of you who do attend should not respond to these posts.

I just returned home. I live in N.C. and I can receive private messages. I have shot many shoots and of course know how to keep my mouth shut. Bill Crane
