Give me a hint. What bourbon to buy something special for someone who like Jack Daniels?

    Three I would suggest

First, Rebel Yell - a bit sweeter than most, but excellent if he likes to mix it rather than drink it straight.

Second, Makers Mark - a classic in the Bourbon world. Great on its own and not too hard to find.

These would be the two I would recommend - you should know how he drinks it - straight or mixed - and go from there.

Third, Knob Creek - made by Jim Beam - it is a very high end drink (i.e., $$$$) and is now very trendy. Good stuff, I just don't see it as worth the premium you pay for it.

If someone were going to give me a gift of Bourbon, I'd sure hope it was Woodford Reserve also....along with a real good cigar.

Why Gentleman Jack single barrel of course. Seriously - they will love it and it comes in a very nice bottle suitable for the giving season.

I didn't check where all these are distilled, but true bourbons are made only in Bourbon County Kentucky.

Here's a list of the replies I received on TS.com, from my Facebook friends, and from a few emails. The list is in no particular order and there are duplicates. Maybe it can be helpful if you are looking to buy someone some good bourbon - or even for yourself.

Give me a hint. What bourbon to buy something special for someone who like Jack Daniels?

    Jim Beam. HMB

    Jack Daniels !!!!!!

    George Dickel

First, Rebel Yell - a bit sweeter than most, but excellent if he likes to mix it rather than drink it straight.

Second, Makers Mark - a classic in the Bourbon world. Great on its own and not too hard to find.

    Another vote for Woodford reserve

Four Roses Small Batch or Four Roses Single Barrel.

Dittos on the Woodford Reserve, a good drop mate!

    Woodford Reserve & Elijah Craig

If someone were going to give me a gift of Bourbon, I'd sure hope it was Woodford Reserve also....along with a real good cigar.

Gentlemen's Jack or Makers Mark. Fred

    Four Roses, Single Barrel

    Booker's or Blanton's bourbon

    Bullet....hands down, no contest.

    Makers Mark ! Awesome

Gentleman Jack is the obvious choice. But for something a little more special I recommend Angel's Envy.

Evan Williams single barrel-just might be the best bourbon made
    Woodford Reserve

    Also +1 for Makers Mark

Woodford Reserve is my 1st choice. Wild Turkey Rare Breed

Jack Daniels and George Dickel are Tennessee whiskeys and are not bourbon although both are good. Blanton's and Woodford are among the best.
