I am trying to restore a 1766/1966 Remington 870 TC.

I want to re-gold the commerative ingraving on the receiver, and intend to have

it re-blued. Question should I re-gold before or after re-blue?

I am sure some of you have opinions.

    Thanks for your input.

hi hal u need to have the gold inlaid first then the golg is flushed even to the reciever. i assume it is a flush inlay. even if it is a raised inlay or a inlay overlay gold should always be put in first. hot salt blueing will not blue gold silver platime palladium or copper. a word of advise allunium will disengrate in the salt tank. DO NOT TRY TO BLUE THE TRIGGER GAURD. this is allunium. have a great day and if u have questions u can e mail me howard.

The gold is not a gold inlay, nor was it even gold. Brownells sells "Bonanza Gold"..brass powder mixed with clear fingernail polish.

That's what was in there. Blue it first.

Copper will kill a blueing tank. If you don't think so jus drop a copper bb in it and find out. bill
