Well, I woke up this morning to utter quiet... eerie quiet.
Snow is everywhere. Deep. Up to the window sills deep.
Blowing...drifting... Accumulations like I have never seen
here in my entire life.... (62)

My home's back door has a drift in front of it that will
probably mean I cannot open the door to get outside. There is no car
traffic outside either and the plows stopped at about 10 PM last evening.

I suspect we had at least 36" or more of snow. Lots of
drifting. My front stone wall is just.... gone. As are the
hydrangea bushes. Mail box is just about covered.
Looking back at the barn... well the snow is up to the window sills.
That is about waist high.... sheesh.

I was supposed to open up and work the desk at the Ansonia Rod & Gun club
this AM in Ansonia, Connecticut. Well, I think those plans
are FUBAR for now. If I am lucky I may be able to clear
my driveway by noon. This snow is well beyond the capabilities
of my trusty Toro 2000 single stage blower....

We still have power.... Got an emergency phone call
from the Town of Stratford, CT. They are warning of drifts
that can cover the exterior vents of side vented gas appliances such as water
heaters and such. Threat of carbon monoxide. I will
post some pictures when I get a chance. The winds are
too strong to go out now.... Snow still coming down heavy
and sideways.... safe, warm but entombed...

I can't even imagine what that would be like. When my daughter was in college she took a ski trip to Vermont and took pictures of walkways cut thru the snow with walls on each side six feet high! Could never live there.

Not the best photos - but thought I would share. Got a late start to clean-up .. so pics are from tonight. About 30" here in northern CT. Yep - that driveway is as steep as it looks - not alot of fun in winter.
