    Dateline San Diego:

Saturday, during the ATA Singles competition, CGSTA Hall of Famer, Terry Bilbey saved not only the shooting range, but quite probably a major portion of the Naval Air Station, from significant damage when a #9 size meteorite struck him in his left eye. Initially thought to be a wayward pellet from the skeet range, the projectile didn't do any permanent damage but did require him to drop out of the Singles competition with a 74/75 to ponder the mathamatical odds of his experience.

It was generally agreed that the odds of hitting Terry are pretty good out to a fairly significant distance, but the odds of missing his shooting glasses and hitting him in the eye were exponentially smaller.

Terry attributed his ability to withstand the assault without injury to the lingering effects of the Dr. Denton, Superman jammies he wears every night and sometimes all day at the office.

As a consolation he did win a Lewis Class payoff for his 74 and then came back to win the HC event with a 95. He also had a pretty good day Sunday at the Tri-County Shoot at Redlands but there is no use gilding his lilly, so to speak

Hum, that would explain why he missed not one but both targets of his first pair in doubles on Sunday. Then again, those were the only two targets he missed all day!!!
