A 10 year old kid caught this 15-3 walleye in December in SD.

    State record is 16-2.

I'll bet someone was scrambling to make a bigger hole when that one was brought up. Lol.

Very nice fish no matter what age the person catching it was. A couple more like that and you'd have a start for one dandy of a fish fry.

One of the best eating fish out there. Great to see a kid outdoors enjoying it

If you never ate a Walley and you get the chance, do it. There is no other like it. Maybe Grouper comes close

I don't like eating most fish but the smaller Walleye are pretty good, especially fried up for a shore lunch with fish caught just that morning. Those bigger hogs are great fun to catch but don't taste nearly as good.

Canada walleyes when the ice goes out (males) are great eating. We stood in a creek at night and just picked them up by hand while they tried to swim upstream. Great fun till your fingers and feet freeze.

Jig head with a minnow was all we needed.

Their cousin, the yellow perch has been a Friday special around here for years. Lots of people have the walleye plate instead.

If you haven't you should. Yum.
