Isn't that the same rattler caught at the WSRC just before the Grand in 2007 or so?? If I recall correctly, one of the ts.c 'wildlife biologists' theorized it grew that big on a diet of 'siders'.

Now along with gators I have to watch out for 7' rattlers when in Florida. I wonder if there are any in the woods near the big water hole at Jacksonville gun club.

He'd be tasty deep-fried, and his skin would look nice on the back of a lonbow.

I had to worry about rattlers in Arizona and Texas when I was on the road vending, and now Florida? That is one big snake....

Either I can't see very good or that snake is a helluva lot bigger than 7'3"

I know the cop is standing behind it, but look how high the pole is in the air compared to the surroundings (3 ft above the squad and nearly as tall as the street sign) and it's still all coiled up at the ground.

Definitely a big snake, but not the biggest. Nine feet, one inch near Enid, OK.

The Eastern Diamondbacks are supposed to be about the largest rattlers. They generally top out at around seven and a half feet, max. However, there was one killed in Georgia a number of years ago that they think might have gone nine feet.
Looks like this example could have stood a meal.
Just in case anyone wonders, and I expect someone will, I worked in about 20 states making maps for USGS. All the good places had already been mapped.

Snopes isn't really an item here, just 'some guy' flipping a bright spinner.
