Years ago (50 or so) there was a big deal about 300 plus lb bucks in Maine. If you got one you became a member of the 300 club and got a patch. The patch was from the Maine DNR or maybe an outdoor magazine. Does anyone else remember such a thing or am I hallucinating again. If it ever was, does it still exist?

It is actually called "The biggest bucks in Maine Club". The deer has to be a minimum of 200 lbs dressed.

A 300 lb deer in Maine would be a very rare thing.

A 200 lb deer dressed out is about a 300+ lb deer.......live weight.

I'd have to look through some old licenses to be certain, but I think the last year I hunted Maine was 2007, and they still had the 200lb patch then.

The article in the link I posted above says that the state agency that started the Big Buck Club no longer exists. It does however have some big bucks listed every year.
