Heard on the news that Biden is pushing Smart Gun technology so that only the registered owner can fire the gun.

Yeah, talking to Hollywierd and the video game industry, they came up with somebody mentioning Skyfall.

That would be another way to put gun makers out of business and guns out of reach to the buyers.

The tech exists, it is limited, ain't cheap. Not so sure it cannot be defeated by a someone, as about the only thing out there is the use of magnetic ring. There is a system that senses the grip of the shooter and even one where they implant a chip in you to work with one in the gun.

So why aren't the police and military using it. Not tried and tested and expensive But ok to make us the people use it.

So lets see, I'm a bad guy and I'm going to steel a gun. Gun only works with the chip the gun owner has embedded in his hand. Darn, what am I going to do?

Great idea for the military. How many guys landed on D-day without their rifles and had to pick one up to keep going - or all mil/police guns going to work off of a common chip? That will be hard to defeat.

These people are out of touch with reality. When you sit in your ivory tower, with hot and cold running servants, and hot and cold running exspense accounts, and hot and cold running Congressional pages, and hot and cold secretaries to handle the phones, how are you able to keep in touch with the common man. Ya know, the ones Norman Rockwell painted. These people in Washington can't see the forest for the trees. It only works if it is big money, and it gets you re-elected. Thus, ended the lesson.

Years ago I think 16-17 can not remember exactly. Varminter magazine had a cover picture of a Remington 700 that was electronic, that was a prototype, they were experimenting with. Had a 2, or 3 page article. It would only shoot ammunition that had the same frequency, or voltage. The shells had an electronic primer, and the trigger group/bolt completed the circuit.

Nobody is taking Biden's committee seriously because it was only created to provide theater for media to pump. The laws they want to enact have been written for years, only waiting ( by their own admission) for the right time to drop'em in the legislative hopper.
After all..IF the President wanted to honestly explore options that would actually protect citizens from crazies with guns....would he appoint a CLOWN to head the study group...???
    It's all theater...

Take it seriously. Simply - it will 'seem rational' to the uneducated.

Having said this, if it gets a head of steam our reps must push for a 'qualified' test of several years in which all federal and state law enforcement must test (and use exclusively) until proven reliable and that the design ultimately must be retrofittable to all existing firearms at Federal expense (i.e taxpayer funding).

The effect would be outrage on the part of SS, FBI, DHS, and all Statae Law enforcement to be forced to take the risk (deservedly so). the latter will drive anti gun taxpayers crazy.

A separate condition is that Congress be personally responsible for injury or murder of the citizen or law enforcement officer in which the chip/firearm fails.
