Years ago in sunday school when I was a wee one.. we would sing a song about Noah..
Noah was a blind man who stumbled in the dark..
picked up a hammer and built himself a ark..

there more to the song but my question is.. do any of you know if the bible says Noah was blind? we got into a discussion about it yesterday and one of the people involved said.. show me in the bible and I will beleive it.. so.. do any of you know? thanks!

The way I heard it was Noah would get blind, have a hang over for a few days and then get back to building the Arc ...

Now, keep in mind the guys were firemen and truth be told not many of them attended church on a regular basis being as Sunday was just another day to us, as were holidays, kids birthdays, anniversarys, graduations, Christmas, New Years and so on, if duty called it was just another day ... We did say Grace before each and every meal though if that helps ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Hawk--It's Gilgamesh(i had to look it up) and i understand the story much the same as you. I don't recall ever reading about Noah being blind. The bible is often misinterpreted and stories are often told out of context. I'm a Christian and i am by no means trying to put down the Bible or its teachings. IF it was all fiction it still serves to teach some very important lessons in life. My 2 cents anyway.

God needed Noah to have a good set of eyes. He lived 950 years.(Genesis chap 9 verse 29) It took some 120 years just to build the ark. After the time of Abraham, the longest anyone lived was 120 years. Abraham's father, Terah only lived 205 years. Abraham only lived 120 years.

Noah was not blind. And if I remember correctly, I think he liked 7 1/2s better than 8s.

The above URL will take you to an on-line Bible site. There, you can look it up. The story of Noah actually begin in Chapter 6 of Genesis. Oh, and I never recall reading that Noah was blind.

Well,I've never seen where he was blind. And if you look hard enough there's other books out there that aren't in the Cannonized Bible.Remember the Bible we have today is condensed from all the books that were written. One preacher I know defined the Bible as== Bacic Instructions Before Leaving Earth...

The Church Hiarchy decided the common folk didn't need to know everything so they picked and choose what they wanted to represent the Word of God to the people. One book I just finished reading(Lost Book of Enoch) hints that a wooden vessel was being built for Noah(presumably by Angels) to help him and his family escape the destrution of the earth by the coming flood.God wanted to rid the earth from the sinful ways brought to man by the fallen Angels who had taught man sin.Amazing how we are preached to that MAN sinned from the pulpit, but from this, one of the earliest books,is is said fallen Angels seen that women were fair and decided to have children by them.Causing a giant race to be born, and all kind of powers were then taught to man resulting in sinful ways.Poor Eve all these years has been blamed for the fall of man, when truthfully,it was angels that had caused the fall and sin. Sorry to ramble.Yes I'm Christian, believing it is a way of life, not a Religion.

Noah was just doing what he was told to do.

See above re: where did we get the Bible?

Doug - the fallen angels to which you are referring were the Nephilim. See Genesis 6:1-4

The blind 'Noah' was on the daytime soap "As The World Turns" :)

So the Nephilim corrupt man, and man gets the blame and his lifespan is drastically shortened.

Sounds just like liberals blaming gun owners for the actions of criminals.

He wasn't blind, for goodness sakes. He did, however, wear thick glasses.

So, we professed Christians doubt that the Supreme Being who created the heavens and earth, as well as us, can control what is entered into the book of his teachings? Please, spare me!

If anyone really wants to further investigate Doc Drew's outline, The Teaching Company has series of lectures on how the Bible came about. Audio or video. Some for less than a flat of Nitro 27s.
