While in Vegas, we rented a car from Payless Car Rental. We specifically mentioned to the clerk we did not want the additional collision insurance since we have our own policy. He acted as if he acknowledged our request. We signed the document and rented the car. Upon return, we were informed we had the additional collision insurance charge on our bill. We complained to the manager who told us we should have read the fine print before we put initials in the car rental agreement.

Factually, she was correct. However, one has the right to expect the clerk not to disregard your instructions and surreptitiously include the extra charge in hope the unsuspecting customer does not read the lengthy document while exhausted from a long trip.

It is bait and switch. And, from what I gathered from talking to other renters at the airport, it goes on all the time. So, if you to to Vegas to a shoot, avoid Payless Car Rental unless you have the time to thoroughly read the car rental agreement with a magnifying glass....

Enterprise!!! It's the only one I use. I have never had a problem with them, if you say you dont want something, there is no hard sell.I get coupons for free upgrades or weekends all the time also. I'd put a stop on the card also.
