Best way to melt wheel weights

    Looking to find out the best and easiest way to melt down wheel weights for use in make my own shot. Was also wandering if using an old Dutch oven heated over a burner from a turkey fryer would work. Thanks

    That is exatly how we do it. Get yourself a thermometer too. There is not need to ever get your lead over 650. If you do during the wheelweight melting phase, you can accidentally melt down some of the zinc weights that are sometimes mixed in with the lead ones and mess up a whole pot of lead.

    i use 2 turkey fryers & 2 8 qt cast dutch ovens(watch for them at garage sales youll find them cheap),can get 175-200 lbs made in a hour&a half,mark
