I have a friend who is an Arkansas native and active trapshooter. He purchased a condo in south-central Pennsylvania for when he retires because of all the trap clubs in this area. You'll easily find better climates but it will be difficult to find an area with as many shooting options.

Go west, once you experience the dry climate with no humidity, you would never consider Florida. I had a condo in Naples for years but now live in the northwest

For registered shooting, and if my bride didn't like Scottsdale so much, I'd pick Casa Grande, AZ. You've got Tucson Trap and Skeet less than an hour to the south and Ben Avery about an hour to the north........and Casa Grande GC right there as well.

This past winter I spent four days at Casa Grande taking two clinics from Leo Harrison.

Then went down to Tucson and shot in the Spring Grand.

    Not bad.

    Will give that some thought.

Go to the Villages, easy drive to Robinson Ranch & Silver Dollar. Best amenities & lifestyle. Real-real estate, property values went up 2.1% last year. Houses sell like hot cakes here. If you want to do other things besides trap-shooting, there are unlimited choices here-its Disneland for grown ups. Also, mot important 4 min response time for EMT,Fire rescue and world class medical facilities in house. A brand new Moffitt Cancer Center just opened.

Linn Creek, MO. Lots of trap plus Lake of the Ozarks and all that goes with it. People (trap shooters) who have retired there tell me they are happy with their decision.

Barry, you guys drive an hour to shoot trap? We Pennsylvanians wouldn't stand for that! I have registered and non-registered targets in my same ZIP code. During an hour's drive, I would pass over a dozen gun clubs.

See you in a couple more years, Ed. Central PA not only has plenty of shooting venues, but some of the best motorcycle roads around. Mrs. Hornet and I will need to reaclimate to winter again, but we'll be OK, I reckon. Can't wait to get of Cali. I just hope we have some $$ left to retire on!

Ed. I'm sure Pennsylvania is a great place to shoot but It's not known as a great place to retire in the warm winter sunshine.

Lexington, South Carolina. 30 min from Mid Carolina Gun Club. Member owned open 7 days a week. You have to set up the trap yourself but for $3.00 per round who cares? Spartanburg Gun Club is only 89 miles away and Greenville Gun Club about the same. Weather is beautiful, people are wonderful, and the targets are great.

Silver Dollar. Shoot trap, both registered and non EVERYDAY!! Play golf EVERYDAY!! Do it all from your golf cart, no need to drive anywhere. High temp this year was high 80's. Lows rarely below 60. Shoot the Dixie, the Southern, and the Florida state shoot. Shoot the WhiteFlyer, Beretta, PVA, and the Florida chain shoot and these are just in late Feb and early Mar.

Several nice places available at very fair prices.
