Cold weather bicycling gear is thin, warm, and does not restrict movement. Several years ago, I rode 10K+ miles annually, and believe me, it works. Bike Nashbar, and Performance Bicycle are two major suppliers. They are probably getting out their spring stuff already, so what is needed might be on sale.

BTW, they have frilly stuff for skeetie muffins, and manly gear for trap shooters. LOL

Oh gee what a clever skeet remark. Yawn.

For low cost good underwear that is great to below zero, mash the link. I have the essential apparel stuff and it is as good or better than stuff twice the cost.

Earl, I had some surplus military cold weather outfits, worked great , can't remember the brand if I think of it I'll let you know. Also check out Carol Davis clothing on T.S.Com links. They have under clothing made in the U.S.A.

I wear sweats under my bibs, wool socks, gummies and a wind/water proof jacket with a hood. Snug as a bug in a rug.

P.S. I forgot to mention the Bob Allen insulated gloves.

Silk is the best. Brownk80 answered..... Use thinnest silk underware is the best. Under Armor is not even come close.

Depends on how cold it is but Jan\Feb- Silk tops and bottoms next to skin. Duofold mid-weight 2 layer wool\poly over that. Then high density poly thin tops and bottoms. Hunting pants and a good wool shirt. With an Outer shell of Gore your good to at least 20 below zero actual air temp and comfortable even with wind. Except for your exposed face.

I also wear silk long johns under my suit in the winter. Go through a pair or 2 a year but well worth it, only $20-$25 each if you look around.

These threads talking about 20 below and 5 below make me cold inside my house. There is nothing that would make me comfortable at 20 above!
