I have my 9000H currently set up for STS hulls and TGT wads for a 1 oz recipe.

I have about 1200 Win AA 12 ga hulls that I tried a few to use with an STS hull and Remington TGT wad 1 oz recipe. Needless to say, there wasn't enough room. I haven't had much luck searching for past threads trying to find a popular wad that would produce a nice looking shell. I am only using 16.8 grains of 700X in the STS recipe. I was hoping to just change out the hull and wad. I found one thread where it seems the DRA 12 Downrange wad is popular for 1 oz shells in a Win AA hull.

Anyone have suggestions for a good wad?

    Thanks,

    Steve

DR-XL-1 Makes a perfect 1oz load in a Win AA

I use it with 16.2 Gr of Alliant e3 powder

Green Dusters. Virgin plastic, loads great, never any plastic in my barrels or chokes. JMO

There is no best. A CB1100 is the same as a Duster which is the same as a WAA12SL.
The DRXL-1 has eight petals, uses the same data. I like any one of these WW types.

For me, nothing loads as well as real Winchester wads in the AA hulls. Don't get me wrong, there are some great loads that don't use Win wads (I like WJ wads too), but there is just something about how the factories sit just right in the two piece hull. For some reason they never get hung up on the lip of the base wad on the AA.

    oz,

"I use TGT's all the time even for AA's"

I thought they would have worked, but for some reason, there was too much in the hull to even come close to making a good crimp.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I use the Yellow Windjammer's for all my 1 oz loads.
Either AA's or Rem's. Soft load at 1145fps.

When using a bulky powder in the AA hull, I use a 1 1/8 oz wad for 1 oz loads.

Are your AA hulls the new style HS hulls, or the old school compression formed ones?

If they are the new style AAHS hull, then the downrange DRA series wad is the nicest fitting wad there is. They are the ones that are a clone of the winchester AA wads, but they are downsized just enough to fit in the AAHS hull.

If there is not enough room in hull for the TGT then the Rem Figure 8 should fit. HMB

The CB 1118 (1-1/8) works very well in the AAHS hull with 1 oz of shot.

Well, I got out to the local club and found the only ones for sale were the Winchester WAA12 SL Pink wads. They were about $8.50 for 250 wads.

When I got home I tried them and they work great! I am sure the other suggested wads probably work just as well. I will try others that were recommended when I can find them at different clubs. If I take a liking to them I will order some on line.

I appreciate all of your suggestions!

    Thanks again,

    Steve
