Hi Guys, I've got my friends 12ga A390ST.
Her shooting is improving but maintenance is lacking. Don't tell her.
-When bolt is locked open, action chamber empty.
I press bolt release. bolt starts to close-shell lifter rises-
Bolt hits lifter, stops half closed lifter up.
    Recognize this problem?
    Any Tips?
And another thinng: I cleaned it - But
    Barell is difficult-tight to remove-replace.
Bolt bottom rear corner is broken off
can I just replace the bolt?
Bolt release button feels gritty, should I take it apart?

    Almost Done Really -
Any 390 How to books out there?
    Suggestions where to get parts?
Who should work on it if you think this is beyond me? average ability.

    Please Advise.
    THANK YOU.
    Steve

First take it completely apart. Remove the trigger group, barrel and the bolt (breach block). Examine all the parts. The carrier should move up and down and stay in either position. Replace all broken or damaged parts.

Replacing the breach block (bolt) is not too hard. You must transfer all the parts that mount on the breach block to the new one. This involves removing and re-staking some pins.

Parts are available from Cole Gunsmithing. If you are not up to fixing it I am sure Cole's would fix it. I believe they are a Beretta warranty center.

I would also suggest before doing anything parts wise you really oil it well inside. It sounds like you cleaned it with a parts cleaner and have not oiled it down. Put as much oil in it as you can without it running out. The Beretta autos love oil. Do not oil the magazine tube where the action arm slides. One other thing that could be the culprit is the recoil spring in the tube inside the stock. It should be replaced around 7500-10000 rounds in my experience. Those are the two places to start. The broken piece off the tail of the bolt will most likely not cause you any problems unless teh bolt cracks.

Just had a similar problem the dog ear off the bolt was stuck in the carrier so it would'nt raise. i replaced the bolt and all the springs, which I'm told was the reason the ear broke off. Also in the back of the reciever where bolt returns alot of crud builds up and seems to me could also cause the bolt to break. good luck Joe

Hi Guys, I'm in So. Cal. gun has been disassembled, cleaned and lubed.
The spring item in the stock feels okay, compressed smoothly.
The lifter stays up or down with the trigger group out.
    Reassembled gun,bolt-lifter stoppage still occurs.
    I will order new bolt.
THANK YOU ALL for the HELP. Steve

I also have the Super Trap, but I built a synthetic stock for mine and use it only for bird hunting. Actually I hve two of these built up with synthetic stock that shoot very high.

I've seen this happen a couple of times, and it's usually a dirty trigger.

I shoot Nitro Mags in mine and they are kicking shells, but while hunting I have never had one instance of what you are seeing.

If you can't get it fixed, I can do it as well. Click above Wewb link for shipping info.

sounds like a tab on the bolt is damaged or broken partly or all the way off. New bolt is easy to put in
