I purchased a used Beretta AL391 Teknys -12ga. The gun kicks like a mule.
I have a Beretta 390 that I shoot trap with and the recoil from it is
what you expect from a auto.

I have been told that the AL391 has a built in recoil reducer in
the receiver. I can't find it. No reducer in the stock.

Any information about this gun would be appreciated.

    Thank you - Jack

The recoil reducer, if there is one, will be under the stock adjustment plate that is held in place by the nut and washer. I have a couple of 391s without this reducer and they do not kick like mules, which makes me wonder why yours does. JM

The device should be where JM describes, unless someone removed it. It kicks you because it probably doesn't fit you.

Used might be the key word,
make sure someone hasn't altered the gas ports.
also make sure the bolt bumper in the receiver isn't missing.

#1- carbon buildup on the gas piston stem ( bolt that forearm nut screws on)
#2- the recoil spring ( or bolt return) in the stock is weak
    #3- tron's probably right- gunfit!!!

Good advice from the experts on Trapshooters.com.... Thank you

I cleaned the gas piston and all that. I found the Beretta
recoil reducer. I was were you said, under the stock bolt.
The blue plastic end of the reducer was pointed down. Took it
out, looked it over and on the end opposite the blue plastic cap
was the very small words TOWARDS MUZZEL. The recoil reducer was
in backwards. After cleaning and putting the reducer in
correctly I took it out and shot it a couple of time. Recoil was
    reduced.

    Thank you all - Jack
