I have a Beretta A390ST Sporting, I have seen A390AL what is the difference?

I thought ST meant Steal and AL meant Aluminum.....

From the www.berettausa.com site, and the "customer support" button.

    Question
What does the ST designation on 390 shotguns stand for?

    Answer
"ST" is an obsolete designation that was used on the 390 series of semi-auto shotguns. It is an abbreviation of the Italian "Spara Tutto", which translates to "Shoots All" types of ammunition (from heavy to light loads).

There was another type of 390 made called a Super Trap that is sometimes referred to as an ST.

I couldn't find any reference to "AL."

The 390 ST had the steel forend nut and a step ribbed barrel. the AL had the aluminum forend nut and a flat ribbed barrel. Probably coincidental about the designations. Both excellent shotguns.

it could have been. the 390 family had two distinct receivers. on sloped like the previous 303 and current 391, another angled up /_. That was the mallard/teal series..... They were also somewhat lighter as I recall..

I have two: a 390T and a 390ST. I don't know about the AL, but looks like someone above has that info.

The Trigger Guard on the ST is engraved with Super Trap.

The difference between the TRAP and SUPER TRAP as the ST had an adjustable comb stock. Other than that they are the same. One cost $400 (retail) more than the other.

    Both are out of production.

I installed synthetic stocks on both and them built them up to be trap stocks. They are only used for bird hunting. Nice guns, but over-priced in my opinion.

Geeze...and all this time I thought "AL" meant "Auto Loading".

No, Joe!! It means "Auto Lovin'"

All I really know is, my old 390 st was a sporting gun, steel forearm nut, stepped rib barrel rounded receiver, Timney trigger.... traded it to a SCTP kid for his ratty 11-87 premier w/26" bbl... even up....Not the wisest choice, but, it was close to christmas at the time... He's shooting high 90's, and I can't get the *&@# 11-87 to cycle....

But, my heart feels good and maybe I'll send him to you for an adjustable comb...
He can shoot that gun till he's old and gray (or is it grey?)

Or he can trade you for your Topper conversion!!
