I took the stock off my Beretta 687 to clean it and was wanting to know how tight to tighten the stock bolt. It seemed pretty tight. I am using the Beretta tool if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance. Shane

I have heard stories of stocks cracking because they were to loose or to tight. I don't want that to happen, I just took the stock off to clean the packing grease out of it.

Oh about 20 foot lbs is what I get my chokes tubes to with my choke tool, thats not that tight either overall.
On new stocks it sure feels more like 80-100 ft lbs just busting the stock bolt loose the 1st time around.
I just tighten to what it felt like to loosen myself, never had a crack or misfortune with a stock in my time.
