I was looking for a gun for trap both singles and doubles. I saw a Beretta 686 silver pigeon 29 1/2 barrel. It had an adjustable butstock and a flat rib. What do you think of this gun? It was $1000
Thanks
686 Silver Pigeon is a very good shotgun, 29.5" barrel is the most versatile length, you can shoot everything with it. $1000 is a very fair price if it's tight & clean.
Although most people probably think you'll need a longer barrel and higher rib to shoot ATA, I happen to like 29.5" best. I tried everything from 28" to 34" O/Us, and found my self shoot best with 29.5" flat rib.
Had the exact same gun years ago and it made a great sporting clays gun. It will do for trap, but in my humble opinion and experience with it, I would not consier it a trap gun, much less a good trap gun. FWIW. jm
