I am looking to upgrade the wood on my 687 SP II....I see both 682 and 687 wood available....The style is slightly, but how does the fit differ? Thanks

NO interchange. 687 has side plates.

I'm not an expert but don't think all 687 have sideplates. Mine doesn't.
Etchen lists them as the same. Check with Wes at Joel's

Also be aware that there are different widths among 68X actions. I believe the older ones are thicker where they meet the butt stock than the newer ones. -Ed

If a stock istoo thick it can be shot as is or thinned down and refinished.

Too thin get the right stock.

687 and 682 will fit. The 687 EELL has the side plates and will not fit.

Most 687 are straight up boxlocks,682 wood should feel fatter,or more filling overall, and with a palmswell.
