    Beretta 390 won

My brother's Beretta 390 won't fire. He says the trigger works, but it no go bang. I doubt that he has 50 rounds through it, and he bought it new. I can't look at the gun as I live in California and he is in Pennsylvania. Any Beretta experts have an idea what it might be?. Cruddy firing pin, perhaps?

Has he taken the trigger group out and the bolt out to inspect them? Sounds to me like a broken hammer spring. If he has left the trigger cocked for a very long period of time without use that would be my first guess. Have him cock the hammer and fire it with the trigger group in his hand to see how hard and fast it releases forward. My guess is it barely flops forward.

make sure its assembled correctly, if not the barrel will be to far foward and the hammer will not not reach the bolt

Sounds like a possible reassembly problem...

Make sure he doesn't have the sping and t-nut on the inside of the barrel lug/gas port. The barrel fits into the receiver, then the spring & t-nut sit on top of the lug. Common mistake in reassembly.

No, Gary the piston fits inside the barrel's gas chamber. The exhaust spring fits on top of the gas chamber.

The most probable cause is the gun is not locking up completely. If the head of the shell is not properly sized the bolt will not lock up and the gun will not fire.

Does the gun fire with a fartory load?

I heard that was the reason they went to the 391, as people couldn't remember how to reassemble the 390 pieces correctly. Mark

A broken or cracked leg of the connecting rod can cause this symptom also.
