I have my eyes on a Beretta 303 20 gauge. It is a 2.75" barrel gun. If I find a 3" barrel will this receiver handle 3" shells?

How difficult to find are these barrels? How expensive?

No. The barrel will work on the gun but 3" shells will not

    David,
To answer your question and with all due respect to the Cubancigar, the 302 and 303 Beretta shotguns whether 12ga. or 20ga. were manufactured to be 2&3/4" or 3"capable. This is accomplished by installing a barrel chambered for the length of shell you intend to use.The factory owners manual includes this formation. I own many of these and use them often !!!!!!

I have two 3" 303's and they have larger openings for ejection ports than my others. I have never tried 3" shells in my trap gun however, maybe it will work???

Cuban i have to agree with your assesment but i too have never tried a 3" barrel on the shorter ejection port receiver. They definately have different size port openings. One has a 2 3/4" and one has a 3" opening.

well, I just switched guns and barrels and it will not work ( 2 2 3/4 trap gun wont take a 3" shell so I am not sure what he is using for info?? Then I pulled out two more and they are different. I found out from Beretta that they changed over after the 302 but not right away so there are 2 3/4 recv's out there. All later 303's should be as Cheetag says

First of all you are the king of horders with all those 302 and 303 guns. No wonder the rest of us can't find more than 7 or 8. I just measured all my 303's and a 302 to find out my earlier response was indeed incorrect. I swore years ago i measured the port on a 3" gun and it was longer but i was wrong on that one. With that in mind i will say there is no other reason a 3" barrel would not turn any reaceiver into a 3" gun regardless of the guns original barrel chamber specs.

    Cubancigar,
All 302 and 303 Berettas are 3" capable via proper chambered barrels, this began when the 302 was introduced and was a great selling point for Beretta.
There are no different 302 or 303 receivers period, they both bare identical ejection port dimentions. The information you say you have from Beretta must be from a store front clerk,it shure didn't come the designing engineers.
