I just figured it out, thats 41 cents per 16 oz glass. My wife works for a beer wine dist and they wont be able to sell kegs from Oregon any longer because $50 will stop people from buying them.

They've milked cigarrettes for all they're worth,
    then someone proposed taxing porn,
    now Beer.
    What's next?
    Big Mac? Whopper?
those should be heavily taxed as well.

I'd vote for a "Fat Tax", i.e., McD's, KFC, etc.

But leave the damn beer alone!! It's much too sacred!

Well, let's see, can we tax tie-dyed shirts, sandles, Priuses, organically grown veggies, liberal art degrees, abortion clinics, movies with fags in them, dumpster diving, and stupidity.

Gun Doc, I like the way you think but here in Oregon that'll never fly. The dang Libs have the legislature sewed up. Like so many states in the West, the state is controlled by a few small population pockets, which means the city-folk run the whole damn state! We have soccer moms telling ranchers and loggers how it's gonna be, and damned if that isn't how it is. Oh well, we've managed to defeat this stupid beer tax proposal before and I'm hopeful we can do it again. Cross your fingers, y'all. Our small brewers are part of what makes living here worthwhile.

The one thing that never enters the minds of politicians, from Mayors to presidents-no matter which party---"Control Spending". Instead, they always want more from the little guys. Tired of this crap. Colonel

Actually, I saw the New York gov on TV stating that the biggest problem and the easiest solutin was spending.

Good to see a factual staement, even if it's not very often.

According to the Beer Institute those of us who drink beer in Tennessee pay the highest tax in the nation.
