The last paragraph is very telling:

Last week, ATF offered 400 agents buy outs to avoid budget cuts and is expecting 250-275 agents to take the offer through Voluntary Early Retirement. These buyouts come at a convenient time for the Justice Department, which can eliminate ATF, then say it’s because of budget cuts, when really, it’s to cover their tracks.

The Obama Administration is apparently willing to kill a whole bureau in order to deflect heat from the White House.

Too bad it's not the Department of Education or the EPA.

We can't accept letting the Obama administration off the hook in exchange for BATFE going away. Those people are criminals with blood on their hands. We should have both - BATFE eliminated AND Obama and his cronies in prison.

I they eliminate ATF the laws are still on the books. Someone will enforce the existing legislation. If you think the enforcement is a problem now, wait until a new agency is formed, one in which Obama and the Dems hand pick. You better be careful what you wish for.

The ATF is just one of many government agency's that need to GO!

but like xb40 said about "existing legislation" that's has to go with them.

ANY regulation that involves ATF would have to become null and void for it to benefit the People of the US

The tentacles that go out from these agency's is over whelming to say the least!

The Founders knew and understood WHY you want small government.

We the People FAILED to keep it small.

The only two reasons to eliminate the BATF are to try to take the heat off of Obama for the Waterga... er.. Fast and Furious, and to replace it with an even worse agency with even more onerous restrictions and interpretations of the law, tailored to exactly what Obama and the gun banners want.

Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms ... sounds like it should be the name of a rural liquor store!

Yup, we need to watch this situation closely. Obama and Holder are two snakes, and the last thing we need is for them to abolish an agency that has a few decent agents working in it and then create something more to their anti-gun liking. We could wind up going from the frying pan to the fire, as they say.

You might want to take note of how the mainstream media handles the Obama administration.

Fast & Furious and Solargate are not being given any ink. But the Jobs bill is.

In my opinion it's time to write sponsors of TV "news" organizations that tilt left this severely and register displeasure and promise not to buy their products.

The organizations themselves will not relinquish their oozing love for the pukes.

Why should shooters care one way or the other?

The ATF is nothing more than a tax collection agency for alcohol, tobacco, and guns. Really an obsolete agency. They have just assumed other powers that have nothing to do with tax collection.

MRSkeet, put your left hand on your right ear. Now put your right hand on your left ear. Now on the count of three, give a good tug, and pull your head out of your Arss. Bulge.

mskeet does not count itself as an American.

It does not understand the fight and is not down for the struggle to keep this country free.

Great name for a chain of convenience stores.

Wonder how many people in the NFA division will get the Ax?

Get ready for a return to the "bad old days" of 7-month waits for Form 4 machine gun and suppressor purchases. (Geez, it's almost like this commie WANTS me to stop killing cats).

There is also the dark possibility that the whole operation was part of an administration agenda to generate public acceptance of more draconian anti gun legislation, since "these illegal guns, purchased by criminals, were used against our country" sounds lilke something that needs to be legislated against.

Good thing it blew up in their face.
