It is funny, but you have to admit that it is ,indeed, George Bush that can take 100% responsibility for the downward trend in that graph. The only question now is how many years and how many presidents will pass before we see a significant difference in our economy?

It was the fault of congress, especially Barney Frank who touted the ARM's so people could get into homes they could not afford.

So you're saying the recession in 2000 was 100% Clinton's responsibility?

OK, maybe 100% is a little harsh, but any way you look at it, the economy and our nations bankroll were looking far better before George Bush got his hands on it. I firmly believe that all politicians whatever their party are inherently crooked and out for themselves and their special-interest friends. I do not believe that either party could be our saviour. Until the people of our country wake up and band together, nothing will change our country for the better. Neil

You guys are real economists. We were entering a recession when GW took over. Shortly after, there was 911, and the banking fiasco caused by Barney Franks, Dodds, and the Dems in control of Freddie and Fanny was already becoming evident in 2000. Bush screwed up by not cleaning house and demanding restructuring of Freddie and Fanny. Instead, he tried to be partisan. Remember Franks statement 4 months before Sept 18th. "There is nothing wrong at Freddie and Fanny". That was the start of the end. Look at the stock market since the Dems took over Congress.
