Pass in on. E-mail, call, or write your Senators and Congressman. There has to be some way WE can take back this country.

    God Bless America!

Note the following from 1957. Sound familiar?
People ask why government won’t cut taxes and spending. OK, here’s why:
The whole system is geared to spending more…on practically every front.
Every government administrator, big or little, wants more for his functions...
and is backed by like-minded lobbies in Washington, lobbying for more.
Every member of Congress tries to get more for his district, his voters.
Even the average citizen, perhaps even you, has some special interest,
and wants government to spend more for that, and economize on other things.
Almost no one dares stick his neck out for cuts…on any specified front.
The total forces for spending exceed the total of forces for cutting.
And, mind you, this applies to the general public as well as to government.

Last time I saw it published, 60% of budget was for Social Security, Medicaid/Medicare, Defense, and interest on the debt. It's likely a higher percentage now (t-notes). If inflation, or downgraded debt drive up interest rates the cost of debt service will sky-rocket.

It will take massive tax increases to raise enough revenue to balance the budget.

BTW - WS-1 have read the proposed amendment? Has anybody seen the language for the proposed amendment? If so please post it here.

Entitlements including social security and medicare/medicaid are very difficult to control and budget -- you can't just not do them. and doing them as the boomers retire put their costs on those who are still working -- the only mathematical way I can see to bring them into line is to put more money into the bank and that means increasing the "tax" somehow be it higher percentage, higher base or some combination -- and be very careful of "Potomac Accounting" when looking at the assumptions made

Robert Bork seems to disagree with WS-1. See link.

And who will the be FIRST to willingly agree to cuts to their favorite entitlement/program?

    Social Security
    Medicare/Medicaid
    Military

    Farm Subsidies
    Tax breaks to Multinationals
    Tax breaks for the Rich

    Education
    Welfare and Social programs

Which one are you NOT willing to give up?

Should we continue to give free benefits to illegal aliens?

Foriegn aid to countries that work against us?

Do we really need give $80,000 to $100,000 to each and every county for "Emergency Management"

What about Billions of dollars lost through the Dept of Developement, Dept of Ag, and SBA on "Bad loans"?

Are our tax dollars being spent wisely on Family Services and Dept of Health free exams and services?

Are there any excessive billings for Medicare and Medicaid?

Do you realize how many people and agencies abuse these $ and services?

Are our current tax laws abused or not administered properly?

The socialists and communists in this country are terribly afraid of a Balanced Budget Amendment because they know that a fiscally sound America can and will crush all threats.

Remember Samson's mistress, Delilah. The welfare state is a sultry and devious mistress. It saps our strength and we give in to it like we give in to the wiles of a clever and devious woman.

We've reached the philosophical bottom line, boys and girls. To all the bloodsuckers out there buying their beer and cigarettes with cash and their food with "food stamps" I say, "SCREW YOU." It's them or us and I'm choosing us. The party is over. Delilah is the cancer and it is time to cut her out.

Don't tell me what America CAN'T do. America and real Americans can do anything we damn well please. Balance the Budget, NOW! All it takes is courage and integrity and even though there are a few here who may lack those qualities, you do not form the majority.

    Respectfully,

    Kit Thomas

When was the last time you heard or read in the paper that this or that non-profit, campany, county, or city got a "grant" for some project?

A grant does not have to be paid back.

    Who approves the grant....politicians.

    Kind of scary isn't it?

We don't have a tax problem, we have a spending problem.

And how about the billions we give to those third world stinkholes in Asia and Africa. Then bring home about 3/4 of the troops stationed in places where the locals don't want them there. Thier paychecks would be welcome here.

A balanced budget amendment won't change anything. Politicians will maneuver around it same as they do today.

Courage and integrity...and if that doesn't work, we'll have to break a few fingers. Politicians are panzies. When they get the picture, they'll come around.

What would (could) they do if every one quit paying taxes? Would that make them spend less? Paul in Nebraska.

    Oh no! Delilah is back.

Hey WS-1, hate to pop your bubble again but you really need to read the proposed "balanced budget" amendment. You'd hate it. Guess what, your beloved congress can vote to ignore it.

Hey Setterman, learn to add. They could eliminate 100% of those things and we still wouldn't have a balanced budget.

MS410, I know that, but that is part of the problem. We are too willing to spend the "gubmit's money", but it's not their money, it's mine and other taxpayer's money. And we should spend it like it's our own money.

I can tell you are one of the people that gets "free stuff". Sorry, but I am one of those nasty conservatives that want to take free shit away from you, and make you work for what you get like everyone else.

You will not be happy if I am successful.
