Ed, I'm only guessing, but about a 1/4 of a mile. Trying to convert to two eyed shooting I found today that looking at a cactus half way to the base of the hills then calling for the target seemed to help.

WPT is correct about it being a great club. Every shooting venue that's possible with a shotgun, pistol, or rifle. All with their own dedicated range.Glad you're getting better weather back in the East. Shoot well, Bob

The club house has been completely redone and renovated, they use the "trap Trailer" for now but have plans for updates and another building in the future ... There is also a big warehouse right behind the trap trailer ...

I would guess that the Mountain in the back ground is probably between 3/4 and a mile away based on my driving up to it one time not long ago, the east end of it is where the 1000 yard range (3,000 ft.) is located and it runs northwest of there from the ranges ... There is actually a road at the lower ridge on that mountain so you can see a car every now and then ... Between the trapline and that mountain there is a herd of Wild Donkeys that hang around and you can spot them a lot of the time, not to mention more Diamondback Rattlers than you would care to mess with ...

I'm going to drive up to the road on the Mountain (again) and try to take a picture of the club from there, have to see how it turns out ... I need a filter for that camera as you can see, it already has a 10X lense on it ... I have ordered a wide angle lens and filter so when they get here I think the pictures will look a lot nicer and have more clearity to them ...

That is my Buddy JRW standing next to me, I'm 6'5" and 300# so a lot of people look up to me and I'm always told I make a better door than window ... I lost almost 30 pounds so I look taller than I used to ... I played football so the bigger you were the better it was in most cases ... I wanted to play Professional football but ruined a knee and hip in college so that eliminated that ever happening (playing weight was 240 and I was a lot younger then) ...

Here is a picture of one of our local shooters ready to eliminate a pair of doubles targets ...

The club is coming along and getting better all the time ... The shaded rest areas sure help when the sun is shining which is most of the time ... I will get some pictures of the Bunker on the east end of the trapline and post them for your viewing pleasure ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I see the fence is gone, clubhouse looks the same.

When McGaffees remodelled it they took out the bar. It had a strange countertop, with coins and stuff they just poured the epoxy over.

there were BB's in it that were a PITA when you put your elbows on the bar. That was when Jack August ran it, about 22 years ago.

I had a couple with Rudy there. What a great guy.

Club looks good. Biggest downer I remember was crappy field wiring, extension cords on the groune and such.

    halfmile,

The club house renovation included getting rid of that counter top, everything on the inside of the club house was replaced and they had to get rid of the termites besides ... They really did a nice job re doing it right down to the kitchen that they don't have anyone running as of yet but thats in the future plans ... The club has come a long way but they say they have a long way to go, so it will be interesting to see it when its done ...

I drove up as close as I could get to that mountain in the back ground picture and its 1.1 mile away from the trapline ... The road is approx. 3 blocks away from the base of the mountain so thats a guestimate at best but would be close ... That mountain looks a lot bigger when you get up close to it ...

Today again, they had between 70 and 80 shooters per event, for both events and the shoot ran nice and smooth just at it should ... I'll try and get a few more pictures soon ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

    halfmile,

They did a total rewire job on all of the traps, skeet houses, RV parking lots, Vendors area, the field lighting, trap trailer, warehouse, everything but the little blue out houses ... They are doing it right and it shows ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
