My neighbor across the road wants to buy a 12v trap for use in his field. He has asked my opinion, unfortunately I'm not "up" on backyard traps. Any advice on which brand/models are reliable, easy to use etc. will be much appreciated. He is a very good neighbor and I don't want to steer him wrong. A Pat trap is out of his league. I suspect $1,000 is likely the upper limit. I'm thinking an Atlas AT-50 or Champion easy bird doubles machine might fit the bill. Help, please! Thanks in advance. bob

Stay away from the Do All. That unit will do nothing but break.

Champion easy bird. The only time mine has stopped is when the battery dies. Other than that it has thrown thousands without a hick up.

I bought the Atlas At 50 and I love it!!. We have buddy and annie shoots about twice a month with it in our back yard and it works perfect evry time. It has never quit and never has needed an adjustment after 20,000 to 25,000 targets thrown. I built my own base for it that rotates the machine left and right about 45 degrees. My only regret was that i should have bought the Atlas AT 250 instead. We have to reload our machine after every shoot which is a pain. It throws as good as the high end machines at our club. The guys at Atlas are great to deal with and I bought it straight from them. I would recommend it to any body who is looking for a personal machine. Huntinandhotrods

You need 300 yards for the shot fall.

the only problem I have had with my atlas was one evening when I had the 4h trap team I coach over for practice.. one of the kids mounted his gun, aimed at the machine and shot it.. hit the limit switch and broke it.. I ordered a new one and its never checked up..

I have an Atlas 250 that just throws and throws.

We have it on our club 5 stand and it keeps up with our autosporters and Lincolns.

Briley has a brand new machine that would be great for this. It's called an Octave. It's close to your price and will hold about 200 targets. Brand new.

Bob they're great machines and I'm sure he will be happy with it, the only problem I've ever had wasn't with the machine, sometimes when I'm close to the shop, I will just drag a battery charger out and put it on low charge, and it runs the machine great, one day I had some buddies over, and we hooked it up, not looking and the charger was on boost, the machine went nuts, started thowing on it's own, alot faster and harder than it should of, it didn't dawn on my to look for a little bit, but I swtiched it back to low charge and it worked perfectly again

    You chose wisely
