Nitro hull, 32.5 Grains 4756, red AA wad, I use a Fed. 209A primer but I don't think it is the recommended primer. AA or Cheddite also works fine. I use #6 shot. If you use this as a hunting load add a little salt as a buffer in the shot so the meat doesn't spoil before you walk all the way out there to get it. This is a load from the book.

Anything at all will work as long as its 4756. People love various powders for this game and load type but years ago I settled on this powder.

Wonder what load George Digweed used to sent the 130 Yard Record? That should be the best Back Up load ever.

You guys using the small volume hulls like AA and STS should experiment with Federal or cheapie hulls with more internal volume.

This keeps pressures down and allows more velocity.

    32 gr 7625

    Remington RP 12 wad

209M or alcan 220 primer (if you can find them)

    1 & 1.4 oz # 6 shot (if allowed) or 7 1/2

Federal hull. Any Federal hull. The pink top guns might draw a giggle or two.

This one clocks in over 1400.

Just reviewed the footage of George Digweed doing 130 Yard shot. He was using GameBore Black Gold ammo. They only make this in 28 and 24 GM loads but they offer it in 6-1/2 and 7-1/2 and 8 shot. I am of the opinion that 1 Oz (28 Gm) is the best pattering load for the 12 gage. Digweeds record tends to confirm that. I would suspect that using a european load with their larger cases and 1 oz with a good wad and good shot would be the way to go not 1-1/4.

Digweed was not shooting a 1 ounce load, it was the Gamebore Black loads that were 1 1/4 oz of #5s, he dropped the pellets on top, if you listened to him after he did it. He said it was a calm warm day, he said it is easier in this weather.

He started out w/ 1 ounce loads, then madethe swich.

    He was shooting 34Gram shells.

enter Gamebore then look at Black

I went back and listened again and yes indeed he switched to Black Gold #5 when he went beyond 100 Yards. Prior to that he was using 28GM White Gold.

The best 12 Ga. shell I ever shot was a 28 GM (1 Oz) Federal 7-1/2 Copper plate that they made for Olympic Trap when 28 GM was legal. I still say that 1 oz is the best performing 12 Ga load.
