Why? Marriage is not a tea party core issue. It can only be argued that it is a core tea party issue by arguing that it's constitution issue. But doesn't the 10th amendment suggest marriage is a matter for the states? And isn't respect for and dedication to the 10th amendment a tea party core issue?

Interesting. Halfmile suggests the 10th Amendment should be tossed in the river.

Wouldn't the "real" John Galt, that fictional demi-god of the libertarians, object to a Federal government intrusion into marriage? And likewise, wouldn't someone claiming to be a "tea party extremist" be offended by this gross violation of the 10th Amendment?

mrskeet, we don't care what you and your boyfriend do. It's obvious this "marriage" stuff pisses you off.

Setterman - So you don't think Libertarians and the tea party should be true to their fundamental principals?

I don't want to be offensive to anybody here on TS.Com, but I'm confused. Do you happen to know why queers want to get married?

This was a tactical stupid on her part. She claims to be a champion of state's rights, then signs on to create federal legislation in what should be a state's rights issue. Which shows even the best will deny their own words when it comes to a hot button issue. If New York wants to be the king (oops sorry, I mean the queen) of gay marriage let New Yorkers make that choice, just like Californians did. (and were, of course, reversed by a federal judge)
