The "invitation letter" was omitted from this year's Michigan program booklet due to an error by the printer. Shooters needing an invitation letter to cross the border can obtain one via e-mail using the following e-mail address: michigantrap@juno.com

Canadians are required to apply for an approved ATF Form 6NIA, but don't have to supply a hunting license or shoot invitation (effective July 9, 2012).

Yes, but saying that it's nice to have when dealing with border agents. Some were bad enough when the invitation or hunting license was required.

I say that, as the new form as of this date has not been published.

By the way, if you require a VISA to enter the USA, the shoot invitation or hunting license (any state) is still a requirement.

RE: What do we as Americans need to go to Canadian shoots?

First a passport (flying or driving) or an enhanced drivers license (driving only) to return to the USA. Many of the border states issue enhanced driver licenses. Cheaper then a passport.

A stop at US Customs before entering Canada to document your firearms that your taking to Canada. A one time requirement, as long as you keep the U.S. form and make no changes. Can be completed at any customs place (at any time prior to your visit), to include your local airport if it has international flights. DON'T bring your firearms into customs unless requested. Leave them in the vehicle (Yes, they will want to check serial numbers).

On the day of entry declare your weapons (and ammo) at the Canadian point of entry, fill out the paperwork and pay $25 for a sixty day permit (credit card excepted). Allows you to bring in ammo (1500 rounds for a shoot, duty free) and to also purchase ammo in Canada. The form can be downloaded prior to your visit to Canada. Fill it out, except signature.

Leave handguns at home. In theory you can apply to bring them into Canada, but it has to pre-approved prior to you arriving at the border. Your subject to arrest if your found with a handgun.

I'm in Canada several times each month to shoot, If you have any questions feel free to contact me. Matter of fact, running up on Thursday to shoot sporting clays.

    C-Money,

The Kelowna gun club is no more - at least as far as trap and skeet goes. Long story, but all that matters at the end of the day is that the trap fields are shut down and all registered shoots have been canceled. Unfortunate.

It is rumored Les is building a new club, with his own money, just up the Connector. This is across the lake, on the west side, just up the road from Peachland.
