Atlas Shrugged 2 is coming out October 12th. I'm finally going to buy the first one today.I've read a lot about it but have never seen it. Looks awsome and will help piece together a lot of references on here. Not to mention provide a glimpse into our very possible and likely future.

Steve, have you read the book, it is a great book and that is why I have put off getting the movie. I am always reserved when a movie is made from a really good book.

After you watch the movies let us know how it is.

Rick, it was a low budget movie because no big studio will touch it. This just might be because they are all liberal idiots.

It is a very good read and it should be required reading in our schools.

The book is poorly-suited to being converted into a movie. A/S consists of long narratives from the author's mind, separated by vignettes of character play to tie it all together. You take away those narratives, and you have a pretty bland movie with no driving force. What, are you going to have Kevin Costner read the narratives over the screen play, like some kind of "Dances With Wolves" treatment? I just don't see it.

Can you really imagine the entire Galt speech being rolled out ad-infinitum, in one long, endless scene, with characters standing there gaping at it? What terrible cinema. It would be like a Hitler Bunker Scene that lasted for an hour.

And again, I haven't seen it, so maybe I'm wrong...maybe they handled it well. But I just don't see it.

It was once thought that Gone with the Wind couldn't be made into a movie either since it was so long and involved. Certainly Atlas Shrugged would be difficult to present on the silver screen but it might could be done with a good enough screen writer with lots of money. Maybe it could better be done as a mini-series. Done properly, it would surpass any other mini-series in history- IMO.

I watched it last night, and I wish I would have read the book first. Some of you have cleared up some questions I had. I would guess the book went about 1,000 miles deeper than the movie did. Not a bad movie, but the mini series idea is a good one. It would have been better if it was WAY longer. I was surprised they didn't focus more on the over reaching that the government was doing. It was just accepted. I am going to watch it again this week, maybe I missed some stuff.
