I'm a new shooter, joined ATA in April.

Going to the Delaware shoot this weekend. What yardage will they put me at? My ATA card is 20yds.

Will I shoot at the 20 or will I be put on the 22?

Depends, do you have 500 targets registered this year ???, Im not sure but you could end up at the 25 if you have no targets, but usually if your new and the classifier is good youll shoot the 20, just depends, course i could be wrong. Steve

From the shoot flyer: New shooters are those that joined ATA in 2013 target year and have less than 500 Targets in each discipline) New Lady or Sub-junior shooters will be assigned to the 19 yard line in the handicap events. New male shooters will be assigned a handicap of 20 yards.

Has there been a rule change for penalty yardage? I shot with a shooter at the MO State Shoot last week who didn't meet target requirements & he was
placed on the 23 yard line rather than 25.

There is no standard for penalty yardage. It is whatever is printed in the shoot program. It varies from shoot to shoot, club to club and state to state.

The "penalty yardage rule" states that if penalty yardage is imposed, it needs to be posted in the shoot program, or at the event. (Section VI, E)

There is no "rule" on how much penalty yardage can be assessed.

If you shoot T/O, targets only, you might be able to shoot at your regular yardage. Shooting T/O, you can't win anything, break 100, all you get is "great shooting"

320090T, Shoot 100 and you get 2yards I believe. Don't have R?B handy so can't check. Shooter will also receieve lots of "WAY TO GO!" Jake

The best I can figure is I'm assigned a 20 yard handicap plus a 2 yard penalty

You say you joined in April of 2013.
So you will shoot from the 20 yard line.

According to Delaware Program, you will shoot penalty 22 yd. line if you want to compete for trophies. You may opt to shoot from the 20 yd. line, but would be for targets only.

Below is a cut and paste from the program. If you are a new ATA shooter, male and have less than 500 handicap targets you shoot from the 20 yard line.

    Good luck.
