Our club just received a mailing from the ATA. If it hadn't arrived in the official green and white ATA envelope, I would have thought it was a joke.

It seems the ATA is so short of money that they are now selling memberships for your pets. This seems a little tacky to me. The bottom of the application actually states that the pet doesn't receive voting rights.

I am not making this up.

You and your club should check the ATA site once in a while. You are only about 3 months late with your whinning.

DB Bill, I guess that you must belong to a different ATA than I do. I get to vote for the delegate each and every year at the state shoot, just as any card carrying member can. John

Maybe the dog can get faster reductions and better classifications at shoots!

I am going to register my dog. Then do some "target management" and win the D-Class at the next state shoot!

Your dog may not win at the state shoot but he could vote for a delegate.

I think it is a GREAT idea, EXCEPT I get to vote, and decide which dogs get a coded collar.

Beloved family pets travel with a lot of ATA shooters that enjoy camping out at the big shoots. That's part of the reason many prefer RV's over motels. Our Bedlington terrier "Howie" loves the sights and smells with plenty of other dogs to meet and lots of space for long walks. I think it's just a fun thing to honor mans best friend and create a small fundraiser. {we have no children can you tell?)

jcl- A dog voting for a delegate is quite simple. With the average card displayed on the collar, all the dog has to do is lick the person he wants to vote for and bite the other candidates.

The next step would be to buy a life membership for a dog and then run the dog for the position of delegate.
