I heard today that the ATA target fees increased by 50% to $3.00. I have to wonder why. JRM

Yes, you have to pay them to have your targets registered.

In an email from Phil Wright.

"Please be advised that the ATA has raised the daily fee to $3.00 starting September 1st."

Gosh. I must have missed the announcement.

I just checked the ATA web site and did not see the daily fee change. I would have thought something as important as a fee change would be listed under Recent News.

    Must be I missed it.

Wish my wages would go up 33%. Why such a drastic increse? I know it is only a couple more bucks for a weekend shoot but, come on.

If it's a hobby how can you call it a tax? Get real.

At least they did not go to a $1.50/100 targets fee that was discussed. That would have taken us (ATA shooters) closer to the abyss that is NSSA and NCSA daily fees. Then it would have cost you $4.50/day for a 300 target day vs. $3. (I am only including ATA fees here, not any State fees.)

Is that increase really that big of a deal? Really?? They can't keep the same prices forever. Everything is going up.

Perga1 you're right about the 50%. Grntitan, not everything is going up. I actually am making less money now than I was 4 years ago at the same job.
Forgive me, I just feel like bi"%@#ing about prices, taxes and fees going up with absolutely no improvement of services.

Trapshooting is populated with and supported by many very wealthy competitors...the shoot prizes run into the hundreds of thousands, most travel in luxury motor homes which cost in the megabucks range, and compete with K, P, and other high dollar shotguns which cost as much as most of our parents paid for their first family homes. The "pinch" will only be felt by those who are less well-heeled who stretch the family budget to compete anyway. Best Regards, Ed

As per tammike many of us are actually making LESS money or Social Security than we were 2 or 3 years ago (for me it's SS). Not to say that one extra $ is going to break me but it sure DOESN'T help. Yes I see that everything else is going up as it has ever since I started this addiction 40+ years ago. With the prices what they are now I only shoot a few registered shoots a year, and not as much practice, still shoot a few games when I can find them. Guess I should be glad that my health & budget allow me to do what I do. Ross Puls

I can remember when moonshine went to $7.00 a gal in the part of Alabama where I was raised. It was a topic at the barbershop on Saturday morning and not favorably met with. Dad did not say a word. Everybody knew that he used it (not necessarily for medicinal purposes either) asked him what he thought. He simply said that it had never brought what it was worth!

The sport, friendships made and enjoyed, and personal satisfaction means more to me than a $20.00 a year membership and $3.00 daily fees detract.

    As for me---no big deal!

I have to agree with "grntitan" on this one.

With the cost of guns going up, how are we going to pay for the outgoing ATA president's gun. That what we do with the daily fees isn't it?

Or do we still pay for it under the table and off of the books.

It won't be long until the state fees will go up to. With everything going up you should be used to getting reamed in the rear by now. its the american way. thanks to Wall St.
