I am going to the NC state shoot this year; however a lot of people I thought who would be going are having second thoughts (costs: fuel, shells, lodging,etc)---Phil

Fortunately, the CA shoot is less than 1 hour from where I live, so I'll be there 3 days.

Maybe, but then again it's only about 45-60 min drive.

I have friends that boat, I have friends that fly, small aircraft,(I myself love to fly though fuel is a major factor right now), and even with the steep cost of fuel to get there and shells, it's no worse than a day at the lake once they put fuel in the boat, fuel in the truck to get to the lake, launching fees, boat insurance, etc, etc.

None of that should be construed as my saying that it isn't expensive, or that something shouldn't be done about the speculation on fuel, & profiteering by big oil, as well as the price of shells having run through the roof "...due to the price of lead" when lead has come back down, and shells/shot has not. Only to say that what ever your pastime or passion might be they are all going to cost.

I actually did go to the State Shoot but didn't take a gun, just wanted to see a bunch of old friends and cast my vote for Delegate and the State Board ... I had the minimum number of targets allowed to still be able to vote ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

It's about a 400 mile round trip, I watch the weather and the program for the day I'm flexible enough to pick and choose the day(s) I want to shoot. If the weather is going to be bad the entire shoot then I'll just pass or I may spend 2 or 3 days down there if conditions a good.
